PANAJI: The Supreme Court road safety committee in Goa has issued a letter to the transport secretary asking for a compliance report on the various points they raised at the district road safety council meeting held recently.
The issues included fixing annual targets for reduction in fatalities, crash investigations, highway patrolling, traffic calming measures, maintenance of bridges, audit of existing roads, barriers on hilly roads and other vulnerable locations in North Goa.

The council took stock of the data that needs to be collated and has decided to file its compliance report to the Supreme Court road safety committee by October 31.
“The council has also decided to recommend to the state government that only ISI marked helmets certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) be manufactured, distributed and sold from January 1, 2020,” road safety activist, and coordinator of Goa Consumer Action Network (GOACAN), Roland Martins said.
