MARGAO: The Goa Pradesh Mahila
Congress protested outside the Margao municipality on Monday evening against
Haryana chief minister Lal
Manohar Khattar over his “dead rat” comment on Congress president
Sonia Gandhi.
On Sunday, Khattar took potshots at Congress over Gandhi’s return as the interim president of the party. “We thought this was good, to move away from nepotism (parivarvad)... But they spent three months moving around the country in search of a new party president.
After three months who became the president? Sonia Gandhi. Khoda pahar nikli chuhiya, vo bhi mari hui. This is their condition,” Khattar said.
Condemning what they called an “insensitive” and “anti-women” remark, the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress led by Pratima Coutinho burnt an effigy of Khattar and demanded his immediate resignation.
“In Haryana cases of atrocities against women are on the rise. Cases of rapes and molestation of women have also increased in that state. With such derogatory comments against a woman by no less than the chief minister of the state, how can women be expected to be safe in Haryana? BJP is clearly anti-women,” Coutinho told reporters.
