Mercury dips yet again, IMD records minimum temperature of 18.3C
PANAJI: The mercury dipped yet again on Sunday, going nearly three degrees below normal, as the India meteorological department (IMD), Panaji recorded a minimum temperature of 18.3C.
In Valpoi, there was quite a sharp chill in the air as the temperature dropped to 13.9C, even though summer is just over ten days away.
Temperatures had shown a marked increase last week and relative humidity had also risen from 50% to 80%, as winter headed into its last fortnight.

A cyclonic circulation extending towards Vidarbha region caused a change in wind direction, and cloud formations raised night temperatures a couple of degrees above normal.
While there was a nip in the air in the early hours of the day, the maximum temperature, at 30.9C, was also a degree below normal.
IMD, Panaji has forecast a minimum temperature of 19C and a maximum temperature of 32C on Monday, and temperatures are expected to rise gradually till the end of the week.
