The radio masts have been installed at the multi-level car parking facility at Patto, Joggers Park at Altinho, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium at Taleigao, and the old secretariat at Panaji.
“In the first phase, 26 walkie talkies will be given to the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) for solid waste management and collection,” a source said.
“Radios will also be given to the electricity and PWD departments and North Goa collector’s office.”
Officials said that a dedicated frequency would be allotted for solid waste management, water supply, electricity and that any query or alert which is raised on the wireless network will be heard by all tuned into the frequency.

The radio handsets will be provided to municipal workers and officers along with key government officials in the coming days.
This will enable the authorities to keep tabs on services provided by the CCP, electricity and public works departments.
The service is expected to be launched in the coming days once the testing and configuration of the radios and radio masts is completed.
“A control room will be set-up at the smart city office and all civic services will be monitored from there,” the source said.
