VASCO: An NGO from Vasco, Goa First, has lodged a complaint with Mormugao police against public nuisance, air pollution and noise pollution by Adani, South West Port Limited and Mormugao Port Trust.
The NGO has also lodged a complaint with Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
Mormugao police inspector Shailesh Narvekar said that he has forwarded the police complaint to the GSPCB for necessary action.

Goa First has asked the police to register the complaint and take necessary action against the guilty.
‘South West Port, 5A and 6A, and Adani, Berth 7, operating under the area of the MPT at Harbour are emanating coal dust in the town,’ the NGO stated.
The complaint also states that coal is being kept in the open due to which strong winds have carried coal dust into the houses of residents at Desterro, Sada and Rumda Vaddo.
‘People are facing hardships as coal dust has settled in their food, clothing, furniture and house,’ the complaint stated.
President, Goa First, Parshuram Sonurlekar has referred to videos which have gone viral on social media about coal dust pollution in the houses of Vascoites as evidence.
Sonurlekar has also asked Mormugao police to probe into noise pollution caused by work in the port disturbing the sleep of locals in the area.
