PANAJI: As the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its second mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-2 next month, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has asked the schools in the state to hold programmes like debates and essay competitions to create awareness among students about the mission.
Scheduled on July 9, ISRO is all set to embark on its most complex mission ever undertaken with Chandrayaan-2, an advance version of previous Chandrayaan-1 mission, as stated by ISRO chairman K Sivan.
The space agency will look at landing on the surface of the moon on September 6, at a location where nobody has touched down before this.
“In light of this, it is enjoined upon all the heads of institutions to organise awareness activities such as debate, wallpaper designing, essay competition, etc on the Chandrayaan-2 mission and send the detailed report of the activities to the board,” said the Goa Board circular, issued by secretary Bhagirath Shetye on June 3.
The board has also asked the high schools and higher secondary schools to upload the report on a web portal created by the Goa Board for it.
