PANAJI: The
special investigation team (SIT) on Thursday questioned
former chief minister Digambar
Kamat’s brother-in-law, Satish Lawande, in a case of alleged illegal mining involving Prafulla Hede, a mine owner.
Crime branch superintendent of police (SP) Karthik Kashyap, told TOI that sleuths questioned Lawande’s relationship with the companies, of which he is a director. “If required, we will summon him again,”
Kashyap said.
SIT on Wednesday questioned Kamat’s son, Yogiraj, for nearly three hours in the same case.
After the former chief minister failed to appear before the SIT on Tuesday on health grounds, a fresh summon was issued, directing him to appear on Friday.
A special court has granted interim anticipatory bail to Kamat in the case. The matter is likely to come up for hearing on Monday.
Investigation into the irregularities in mining began after a FIR was registered against Hede and others. tnn
