Panaji: State social welfare minister
Milind Naik, on Friday said that henceforth, the state government will issue permanent
caste certificates instead of provisional caste certificates, which were valid for three years.
The decision, he said, will benefit at least 9,000 applicants.
Naik said that earlier, the deputy collector used to issue provisional caste certificates as per the Supreme Court order.
Later the documents used to be sent to a screening committee for a verification process which would take three years. “Now all this has been done away with,” he added.
