Terror attack: Bicholim, Canacona hold peace march
Hundreds of shopkeepers and vendors shut the entire Panaji municipal market, switched off the lights and took out a massive candlelight march to protest the recent Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
BICHOLIM/POINGUINIM: Residents of Bicholim and Canacona held candlelight rallies as a mark of respect to the departed souls of the soldiers who were killed on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Lethipora in Awantipora area of Pulwama district, South Kashmir on Thursday.
The Bicholim taluka programmes were organised by the Mayem BJP block in Mayem village, and Bicholim Bachao Abhiyan and Bicholim block Congress committee in Bicholim town, respectively.
A similar condolence programme was also organised by citizens from Sakhali on Friday night.
In Canacona, a candlelight march was organised by Canacona Nagrik Samiti. ‘The presence of children was remarkable as they are the future of this country and have to realise their resposnsibility towards our great nation,’ a press release stated.
‘Loud slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Murdabad Murdabad Pakistan Murdabad’, ‘Amar Rahe Amar Rahe Shahid Jawan Amar Rahe’ created a nationalistic atmosphere all over Canacona thus sending a strong message to the traitors that we Indians are together whenever our nation requires us,’ stated a press release.
