PANAJI: The crime branch of Goa police arrested two persons from Odisha for running a prostitution racket in the state. Police rescued five girls.
Acting on a tip-off, a crime branch team led by PI CL Patil conducted the raid.
An informer provided police with the phone number of the main accused Kanha Raju, 28, based on which a trap was laid near a hotel in Calangute.
As part of the trap, a decoy customer placed a call to Raju, who was then caught red handed along with one of the girls while negotiating the deal with the decoy customer.

He led police to another guest house in Calangute where the second accused, Adarsh, 28, was found along with four more girls.
All five girls were rescued.
Crime branch SP Pankaj Kumar Singh said that Raju, native of Bhubneshwar, and Adarsh, native of Puri, have been working in Goa for more than five years.
The accused, police sources said, were living off the earnings of the girls.
