Vasco boy’s death: Police rule out sexual assault

While police are yet to ascertain if the seven-year-old boy found dead at Vasco on Monday was murdered, they have ruled out sexual assault as a cause of death. South Goa SP Arwind Gawas said, “The postmortem report shows no sign of any physical assault. So suspicion of any kind of sexual assault has been ruled.”

VASCO: While police are yet to ascertain if the seven-year-old boy found dead at Vasco on Monday was murdered, they have ruled out sexual assault as a cause of death. South Goa SP Arwind Gawas said, “The postmortem report shows no sign of any physical assault. So suspicion of any kind of sexual assault has been ruled.”
Mormugao DySP Sunita Sawant said, “The postmortem report reveals that the boy had injuries on both sides of his head and several bruises in an attempt to catch hold of something during the fall.”
Police are now working out if he was accompanied by somebody or was trying to escape from somebody which resulted in his fall.
They are also investigating his reason for going to the terrace.
A CCTV camera recorded the boy playing near the building by himself from 6.04pm to 6.16pm on Sunday. At 6.16pm the camera loses view of him as he enters the building.
The postmortem report reveals that the boy banged his head on both sides and damaged his brain during the fall. He also attempted to catch hold of something which causes bruises on the body. An orange thread was found entangled to a pipe on the second floor, which is identified to be his waist thread.
Doctors reported that the death occurred between 6.15 and 8pm. The boy did not die instantly but was in pain for around one to two hours after the fall. His mother’s slippers which he had worn were found at the top of the staircase to the terrace.
