PANAJI: A delegation led by
waste management minister
Michael Lobo comprising officials and media personnel will visit
Norway later this month to examine mechanism and processes used in the Nordic country for converting waste into
energy.
“Norway has invited us to study how energy can be generated through waste,” the minister said. He also said that the concept of putting any kind of waste to use and reuse, and produce energy and power is not new there, but it is here.
He said such efforts have to be undertaken here as well through waste management.
Currently, Goa has only one solid waste treatment plant, which is in Saligao in North Goa.
