Zuarinagar residents say mass testing not being carried out

Vasco: Tense moments were witnessed at the Zuarinagar containment zone in Sancoale on Sunday morning after around 500 people, mostly from ward 7 of the slum containment area, assembled near the barricades manned by the police and bitterly complained that no swab tests were being conducted. They demanded that the South Goa collector, Ajit Roy, come and meet them immediately.
The people demanded that mass testing for Covid-19 be immediately carried out and those who test negative be permitted to go for work as they have no other source of income.They complained that they were not receiving sufficient essential commodities.
“Today’s agitation by this crowd is a result of dirty politics of some anti-social elements. People are unnecessarily being instigated,” Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha told TOI.
