FARIDABAD: Three more Covid-19 patients were discharged on Tuesday, taking the total tally of recovered patients to 40 in Faridabad. More than 85% of Covid-19 patients have been discharged after recovery in the district. A health department official said surveillance and identification of patients at a preliminary stage was key to improving recovery rate. The district now has six active cases.
On an average, the district health department is sending 100 samples every day for testing.
An official said though the recovery rate is higher, the department is also gradually increasing the number of samples every day.
Moreover, the official said a total of 20,000 people with influenza-like illnesses (ILIs) were identified in the district by the health department and the administration in the past 15 days.
“We have been able to identify patients at an early stage. Active surveillance helps us a lot,” said Dr Ram Bhagat, deputy civil surgeon, Faridabad. Out of the 20,000 identified people, the database of 3,000 patients was shared by chemist shops and remaining 17,000 were identified by mobile teams of the health department.
“Our two main hospitals treating patients — ESIC hospital and Al-Falah hospital — have best facilities and infrastructure. Our health workers counsel patients, which is very important. Patients tested positive for Covid-19 go into depression, and it is extremely important for them to be mentally fit to fight the battle for recovery. Our health workers are ensuring that the patients are given an environment where they feel better,” Bhagat said.
No new positive case of Covid-19 was reported in Faridabad on Tuesday and the number of total positive cases in the district stand at 46.
The health department has sent 2,568 samples so far, out of which 2,373 have turned out to be negative, while reports of 149 samples are awaited. A total of 499 primary and secondary contacts of Covid-19 patients have been identified and quarantined by the health department, which has also put around 3,439 people in home isolation. As many as 1,115 people with travel history have completed a surveillance period of 28 days.
