CHANDIGARH: With Gurugram and
Faridabad districts topping the tables, Haryana has seen 42,265 cases of crime against women between November 2014 and July 2019.
According to Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s statement in the assembly on second day of the monsoon session on Monday, Gurugram registered 4,577 cases
of crimes against women. The crimes against women had the highest number of rape cases, especially of minor girls.
Khattar laid the statement in response to a question by Palwal MLA Karan Singh Dalal of the Congress.
Dalal had sought information regarding number of cases of murder, rape, under POCSO Act and atrocities against Dalits registered during the BJP regime.
The Palwal MLA had also sought the conviction rate of criminal cases in Haryana.
The statement revealed that 953 persons had been convicted in the murder cases, 249 convicted for rape, 457 in cases under POCSO Act and 904 under the various crimes against women. Hisar topped in cases and incidents of atrocities on Dalits. Of the 357 cases registered against atrocities against Dalit in Hisar, 77 were registered in Hansi police district.
The CM’s statement revealed that 663 cases of rape and 354 of POCSO Act (rape of minors) had been registered in the same period in Gurugram. Gurugram district also recorded 470 cases of murders. In Faridabad, 4,325 cases of crime against women like assault and molestation were registered. A total of 543 cases of rape were registered and 412 cases of POCSO Act were registered.
