Haryana set to build new city in Faridabad

GURUGRAM: The Haryana government has initiated the process to prepare a master plan for a new city that it wants to carve out in Faridabad district over an area of 56,000 hectares. The new, yet unnamed city is likely to incorporate some of Faridabad’s current urban areas, though it’s rural Faridabad that will contribute most to its spread.
The city will be developed under the state government’s Panchgram plan, which envisages the development of five new cities in the influence area of the Kundli-Manesar (KMP) Expressway.Though no time frame has been spelt out, the Haryana State Industry and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has invited consultants for preparation of Master Plan 2040 for the new city.
The city’s location will be to the south-east of Delhi, and it will share boundaries with Faridabad to its north-west and UP to its north-east. “The area is well connected with neighbouring urban centres through NH-2, state highway 22A, KMP and other major district roads,” said an HSIIDC official. The government’s established land pooling guidelines will be followed for acquiring land for the project, the official added.
