Haryana: Shramik train departs for Bihar with 1,676 migrant labourers from Ambala

A Shramik special train departed for Katihar in Bihar from Ambala Cantonment at 4 pm on Friday, carrying 1,676 migrant labourers and 22 children with them towards their home state.

AMBALA: A Shramik special train departed for Katihar in Bihar from Ambala Cantonment at 4 pm on Friday, carrying 1,676 migrant labourers and 22 children with them towards their home state.
Nodal officer Captain Shakti Singh told, “A total of 1,676 migrant labourers with 22 children have been sent to Katihar in Bihar from Ambala on Friday. Apart from Katihar districts, the labourers are from Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Araria, and Purnia districts of Bihar.
They have been provided free train tickets, water bottles, masks, sanitizers, and food. The children have been given toys.”
The labourers looked happy on getting a train towards their home state.
Shakti Singh told, “On Friday, a total of 185 labourers from Ambala, 450 from Kurukshetra, 450 from Karnal, 150 from Sirsa, 62 from Jind, 100 from Yamunanagar, 100 from Kaithal, and 179 from Hisar were brought in Haryana Roadways buses to Ambala Cantonment. Before allowing them to board the train, they were screened for health by the medical teams at the station.”
Ambala Cantonment railway station director (SD) Baljot Singh Gill told, “This train will travel via Saharanpur up to Katihar. It would take between 25 to 30 hours for completing the journey up to Katihar from Ambala.”
