Hisar: Ex-sarpanch booked for embezzlement

HISAR: Hisar police have booked a former sarpanch, village panchayat secretary and additional block officer for allegedly embezzling Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Scheme (MGNREGS) funds by submitting fake documents.
Police have started investigation into the matter but are still to arrest the accused.
A case was registered against four persons at Barwala police station on the complaint of the chief minister's flying squad's reader Sanjeev Kumar against Badopatti village former sarpanch Chhabil Das, additional block officer Suraj Prakash, panchyat secretary Ramesh Kumar and Brij Lal, a resident of Badopatti, under sections 467 (forgery of valuable security, will etc.), 471 (using as genuine a forged 1 [document or electronic record]) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code
Sanjeev told police they had got information about the misappropriation of MGNREGS funds and, after investigation into the matter, found that the accused had prepared fake papers and withdrew money from the government treasury.
