HISAR: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Kumari Selja and former chief minister and the leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, held a meeting with the party workers of the Hisar Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday where both made attempts to end infighting by appeasing different factions ahead of the assembly elections.
Both leaders are organizing seminars and workers' conferences in all parliamentary constituencies of Haryana to boost the morale of party workers.

However, Adampur MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi and his wife Renuka Bishnoi, MLA from Hansi, did not attend Congress meeting at the Hisar grain market where Selja and Hooda addressed the workers. He was in Adampur, addressing the locals. Kuldeep's associate and former MP Ramji Lal was present during the meeting.
Congress leader Harpal Boora, who aspires to contest from Hansi, also showed his strength during the meeting.
Other Congress leaders present during the meeting included Savitri Jindal, Sampat Singh, Subhash Goyal, Ramniwas Ghorela, Rambhagat Sharma, Naresh Selwal, Ramkishan Fouji, Rajendra Sura, Mukesh Saini, Bhupendra Kasania and Sandeep Kharakia.
During the workers' conference, Selja and Hooda attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state. Hooda said the BJP-led government was the most corrupt and good at event management. The two-time Haryana CM said the Congress workers had become disappointed after the Lok Sabha poll results, but their dejection had turned into hope. "During our 10-year rule in Haryana, all promises made in the manifesto were fulfilled. However,
BJP made 154 promises in the last manifesto, out of which not a single one was fulfilled. It also didn't give higher prices for crops to farmers as recommended by the M S Swaminathan panel. It made situation worse by imposing GST on the tools used in farming," he said.
Hooda said unemployment in Haryana was 2.8% in 2012 and it had reached 28%, which was the highest in the country. He said BJP had delayed the implementation of the amended Motor Vehicle Act only till the elections, while the Congress government in Rajasthan did not implement it, as it was hurting the common man.
Selja said the foundation of the government had been laid on lies. She said GDP was at the lowest and unemployment in Haryana was the highest in the country. "Demonetization and GST have resulted in an economic slowdown forcing factories to close down," she said.
