YAMUNANAGAR: Haryana education minister Kanwar Pal on Friday said schools have restart soon to resume education as people cannot sit at home forever due to fear of the pandemic.
"Undoubtedly, there is risk involved, but we cannot sit at home due to fear of coronavirus. The world will move on and for the time being the coronavirus will also stay.
As of now, there is no time period known when coronavirus is ending or going away, so we should start schools after following all norms, precautions, and by maintaining social distancing.
We have to start at some point and fight against this disease with bravery. We need to do all our work so factories and markets have opened and the schools will too open soon," the minister said when asked about the risk involved in restarting schools during the ongoing pandemic.
Haryana, he said, would first restart education of students in Classes X, XI, and XII."As of now, we have taken a decision that we will first start with Classes X, XI, and XII most probably in July as the students in these classes are young and sensible. After this opening, all problems and flaws will be identified and rectified immediately," he said. The Khattar government has identified two ways of reducing number of children in a class and ensuring social distancing. "One decision is to call 50% students of a class in two shifts - in morning and evening. The second decision is to call 50% of students of a class on one day and remaining 50% on the second day. Some schools have been identified for starting demonstration classes under these two plans, and whichever decision receives a positive response will be implemented in the entire state," he added.
