Six more Covid-19 patients in Gurugram, Faridabad records 13 cases
GURUGRAM: The city recorded six more Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total number of patients to 225, while Faridabad reported 13 more cases. The total tally of Covid-19 cases in Faridbad has now reached 176.
In Gurugram, two cases were reported from Sector 38 and one each from Bharti Chowk, Shakti Park, Sector 32 and Sikanderpur. According to the health department officials, most of them came in touch with those who had tested positive.

“We had earlier received cases from Shakti Park and Sector 32,” said a senior health official.
“We are tracing contacts of positive cases and conducting screening in vegetable markets. We have increased containment zones in the area as the cases are going up. Our teams are scanning slums and rural areas of the district to curb the virus spread,” he said.
“All people showing influenza-like illness (ILI) symptoms are being tested. Areas like Khanda mandi, Sirhaul are Dundahera are now containment zones. We will be conducting home-to-home survey and contact tracing of each person who came in contact with patients, and also people with travel history,” he added.
At present, the district has 45 containment zones, which were earlier 37.
In Faridabad, the number of containment zones has gone up from 26 to 32.

The Covid cases reported in the district on Wednesday include a 28-year-old man working in a Manesar-based company, a 40-year-old wife and 20-year-old daughter of a Covid patient in Auto Pin Jhuggi Mujessar, a 27-year-old relative of a patient from Bharat Colony who died of Covid, a 36-year-old health worker posted at Ballabgarh, a 57-year-old woman who is a resident of Sainik Colony, a 27-year-old man from Dabua Colony, four primary contacts of a Covid patient from Parwatia Colony and a 20-year-old engineering student from Dabua Colony.
“We have increased testing in the district. While earlier our government lab was testing 200 samples in a day, now we have increased the number of samples tested in a day to 400. This is one of the reasons why the numbers have increased,” said a health official.
The health department has sent 8,161 samples for Covid testing so far, out of which 7,236 samples have turned out to be negative while samples of 749 people are still awaited.
As many as 862 contacts of Covid-19 patients have been identified and quarantined in the district. A total of 90 patients have been discharged after recovery.
