GURUGRAM: Union minister and Faridabad
MP Krishan Pal Gujjar brought outgoing MLA
Umesh Aggarwal and
BJP candidate from Gurugram
Sudhir Singla together on Thursday to bury the differences in the party cadres. After losing the party ticket to Singla, Aggarwal had fielded his wife Anita as independent candidate from Gurugram assembly seat but she withdrew her on Monday after meetings with senior leaders.
The move was aimed at clearing the air about any rift in the party after Aggarwal openly expressed his discontent over being denied a ticket.
At a function attended by Gujjar and many other senior leaders at Aggarwal’s office on Thursday, Aggarwal declared that he will be campaigning for Singla, who is also his relative, to ensure a BJP victory.
“I was hurt when BJP denied ticket to me despite working for the development of my constituency. But the party means a lot for me. Earlier I had asked my wife to withdraw her nomination and now I am here with Singla to help him in the election,” said Aggarwal urging party workers to work for the party.
For his part, Sudhir Singla termed Aggarwal as his ‘Krishna’ in the election battle. “He (Aggarwal) is a senior leader and a true soldier of the party. Without him, it would have been difficult for me. I will be indebted to him for his support,” said Singla.
Gujjar said every worker and leader is with the decision taken by senior leaders. “Decision may or may not be in favour of an individual, but everyone is with the party as a true worker,” said Gujjar, confident that BJP will achieve perform better than 2014 in South Haryana.
Earlier, Gujjar attended the meeting of the party workers to prepare for the upcoming rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ballavgarh in Faridabad on October 14 — his only rally in South Haryana.
