600 passengers land in Guwahati

Over 600 passengers in eight flights from Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore disembarked at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport here on the first day of the domestic air services which resumed on Monday. Another 511 in four flights landed in Imphal.

GUWAHATI: Over 600 passengers in eight flights from Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore disembarked at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport here on the first day of the domestic air services which resumed on Monday. Another 511 in four flights landed in Imphal.
Only Guwahati and Imphal airports were operational on Monday. The regional executive director of Airports Authority of India of NE region tweeted that flights to all the other airports in the region are cancelled till May 27.
The first flight from Delhi carrying 77 passengers landed as early as 7.40 am.
It then proceeded to Imphal. While a total of 170 departed from Imphal, about 350 flew out of Guwahati.
Assam health minister said, "Today, only eights flights are operating but from tomorrow we are expecting more. The numbers will increase when the Kolkata airport resumes operations from May 28. In the next four to five days, we are expecting at least 32 flights."
The Assam government SOP has made it compulsory for every person coming by air, train and road to stay at least seven days in institutional quarantine depending on the lab results and thereafter complete the remaining days in home quarantine.
