GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will declare the results of the Class XII state board examinations on June 25.
Even as sources in the examination section at AHSEC had earlier told TOI that the board was ready to declare the results any time between June 20 and June 25, AHSEC chairman Dayananda Borgohain later in the day confirmed before the media that the results will be declared on June 25.
The results of all four streams — science, arts, commerce and vocational — will be available on around 15 websites, including the official website of AHSEC (www.ahsec.nic.in) from 9 am on June 25.
“We are hopeful that after declaration of the Class XII state board examination results on June 25, it will be more convenient for the students to appear in various competitive examinations in July,” Borgohain said here on Thursday.
He added that since the board officials needed to travel outside Assam for result-related work, shutting down of flight services has delayed the result declaration plans of late.
Borgohain also admitted that evaluation of the boards answer scripts was largely delayed due to the prolonged lockdown. “We had to talk to the people in the administration in the districts so that the teacher evaluators could come to the evaluation zones. Due to this, we have almost lost one and half months’ time," he said.
According to sources in AHSEC, a proposal was sent to the state government stating that the board is ready to announce the results between June 20 and 25. It also said that an official declaration of the date of results was expected from state education minister
Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“After the proposal was given from AHSEC to the government that the board is ready to declare the results between June 20 and 25, we were waiting for a green signal from the government since Wednesday before declaring the result date officially,” said a senior official of AHSEC earlier this morning.
Last year, the Class XII state board examination results were declared on May 25. AHSEC officials said that effort was on to announce the results earlier this year, but the delay in evaluation of answer scripts due to the lockdown has delayed the declaration of results.
About 2.34 lakh candidates appeared in the Class XII state board examinations from 772 exam centres across Assam this year.
Earlier in April, AHSEC had decided to allow all Class XI students studying in institutions affiliated to it to be promoted to Class XII without a final examination. The Class XI final examination, conducted by the AHSEC, was scheduled to begin from March 25. However, the board had to cancel its plans to conduct the exams later due to the lockdown.
The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (Seba) has already announced that it will declare the results of Class X state board examinations at 9 am on June 6.
