Bank branch in Guwahati shut after visitors test positive

Kamrup (Metro) district authorities on Friday suspended all activities at a branch of Allahabad Bank here after they found that some people, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, had visited the bank recently.

GUWAHATI: Kamrup (Metro) district authorities on Friday suspended all activities at a branch of Allahabad Bank here after they found that some people, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, had visited the bank recently.
A statement from the district authorities read, "As it has been ascertained that some Covid-19 positive patients have recently transacted money at Allahabad Bank, Machkhowa branch, Guwahati, hence, in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of Covid-19 virus, all kinds of transactions as well as administrative functions of Allahabad Bank, Machkhowa branch, Guwahati, is hereby prohibited with immediate effect."
The statement added that the employees have been home quarantined till their swab-test reports come in.
Besides collecting swabs samples of the officials, the district surveillance officer is also ascertaining contacts of the branch employees.
