GUWAHATI: Amid incidents of assaults on dalits in different parts of the country, Gauhati University (GU) has constituted a seven-member committee, headed by vice-chancellor PJ Handique, to look into the discrimination complaints to be received from students, teachers and non-teaching staff belonging to the SC, ST and OBC communities.
In a notification issued recently, GU authorities have advised faculty members and officials to be sensitive while dealing with incidents of caste discrimination.
"All officials and faculty members are requested to not indulge in any kind of discrimination against any community or category of students," the notification read.
