GUWAHATI: Train services along the Lumding-Badarpur section in southern Assam were affected on Monday following derailment of a goods train. At least nine passenger trains connecting Silchar, Dibrugrah and Guwahati in Assam with Agartala in Tripura were cancelled because of restoration work on the tracks.
This is the second mishap on the Lumding-Badarpur stretch in 18 days. On September 6, train services on this stretch were affected after the Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express derailed near Haflong station in Dima Hasao district.

NF Railway chief public relations officer PJ Sharma said about 20 wagons of a goods train got derailed between Dautohaja and Phiding stations at 11 AM on Monday. "There was no injury. Accident relief trains were immediately rushed to the site from Badarpur, as well as Lumding, to carry out restoration work, " added Sharma.
