HYDERABAD: As many as 35
students living in women’s hostel of Kamala Nehru Polytechnic College, Nampally, were admitted to city hospitals after they reported stomach pain and nausea, allegedly due to food served to them at the hostel on Sunday night.
The students alleged that the water used by the hostel management for cooking and cleaning of utensils is polluted.
After eating dinner at the hostel on Sunday, students complained of stomach pain, nausea and vomiting. On Monday morning, the students were admitted to
Osmania General Hospital and Care
Hospital in Nampally.
After administering the required treatment, the students were discharged and sent back to the hostel where Raja Singh, the
Goshamahal MLA visited them. “When I spoke to the students, they were afraid of the administration. Students showed me the water they consume. It was polluted and emitted drainage smell,” said Singh. “Students suspected that the administration used the same water for cooking which led to their illness,” he added, asking health minister Etela Rajender to take necessary action against the administration.
When TOI contacted the college administration for clarification on the matter, they reserved their comments till Tuesday.
