HYDERABAD: A special CBI court in Hyderabad on Friday issued summons to AP state minister Botsa Satyanarayana, asking him to appear before it on September 12 to depose as a witness in the Volkswagen case filed by CBI. The summons were issued by special Judge C Praveen Kumar.
In the name of setting up a Volkswagen factory at Visakhapatnam, the company’s officer Helmuth Schuster with the help of some people duped the state of AP to an extent of Rs 11.67 crore in 2005.

The company later threw out Schuster from its service and had even offered to compensate the state for the loss. The state had entrusted the matter to CBI which brought out the names of Indian accomplices of Schuster and filed chargesheet against them. CBI, however, could not succeed in bringing Schuster from Germany. Ashok Jain, BK Chaturvedi, Jagadish Alagraja, Gayatri Chandravadan (died later) were made accused in the case.
Botsa who was AP’s industries minister at that time was arrayed as a witness in the case by CBI. The case has now reached the trial stage.
