HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court on Monday dismissed the petitions of the alleged foster mothers and persons claiming to be the guardians of the girl children who were rescued by the police from the infamous Yadadri prostitution dens.
These guardians of the girls were seeking visitation rights to see the girls because they were brought up by them. However, the police, who have put them in protection homes, have been vociferously opposing the pleas of the guardians.
The counsel for these guardians, Vasudha Nagaraj, argued that 26 girls were housed in a private protection home devoid of adequate facilities, and said that the children are not being properly looked after by the officials and as ‘parents’, they want to see their children.

The state’s special counsel Sarat Kumar opposed the guardians’ plea. “They are not their biological mothers and all of them are facing cases. It was under their guardianship alone that these girls were turned into victims of trafficking and there is every danger of them influencing the children again if they are allowed any access to the children,” he said. Refuting the allegation that officials are neglecting the victims, he said that they are being looked after well at their current home. The bench dismissed the pleas of the guardians.
