HC stays Mallanna Sagar work in 4 villages

Hyderabad: The high court on Friday directed the state to stop the construction of Mallanna Sagar reservoir in Yetigadda Kistapur, Pallaepahad, Vemulaghat and Thoguta villages of Siddipet district.
It issued the interim order while hearing pleas from residents of these villages who accused the state of displacing them without providing rehabilitation. Their counsel told the bench that though the HC ordered the state last week to conduct a survey and compensate the displaced, that order was not carried out.“Even the power supply was disconnected,” he added. The state counsel said that the survey is being conducted and sought more time. The HC ordered immediate restoration of power and adjourned the case to August 30.
