Hyderabad: Engineering student arrested for rape

HYDERABAD: An engineering student was arrested by Ibrahimpatnam police for sexually exploiting a fellow student.
Three days ago, a 20-year-old student of Gurunanak Engineering College lodged a complaint with Ibrahimpatnam police alleging that Areef Ansari (21) - a IIIrd year student of the same college, in Ibrahimpatnam, has been sexually exploiting her since past one year.
The accused befriended the victim and about a year ago, Areef took the victim to his room in Ibrahimpatnam and raped her.Subsequently, he continued to sexually exploit her, Ibrahimpatnam police said.
Recently, the victim decided to stay away from the accused, but he started blackmailing her by threatening to share her private photos with others.
Unable to put up with the harassment of Areef, the victim lodged a complaint with the police.
Police registered a case against Areef under sections 376 of the IPC and SC&ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act. Areef, a native of Nepal, was arrested on Wednesday and remanded in judicial custody.
