HYDERABAD: A leopard was spotted on the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State (PJTS) Agricultural University campus on Thursday night. Officials believe it is the same leopard that was spotted on the main road in the Katedan area on May 14. The big cat was first sighted sitting near the Road under Bridge at Katedhan after which it escaped into a private farmland near National Highway 44.
After combing the area for two days, forest officials said that the leopard moved away into the forest area near Chilkur via PJTS agricultural university.

However, on Thursday night, after some persons alerted the police after they noticed the leopard lurking near PJTS university campus and the National Institute of Rural Development campus, the officials later checked the CCTV cameras installed in the area and confirmed the movement of the wild cat around 8.30pm.
“We have informed the forest department after checking the CCTV footage. They have started a rescue operation. We also alerted the people staying in the vicinity to be alert,” said S Balaraju, sub-inspector, Rajendranagar.
The forest officials and the police have asked those staying in the vicinity of the university campus and the NIRD to be alert and not panic.
