HYDERABAD: An auto driver was arrested by Banjara Hills police after he went berserk in a drunken condition and damaged the parked vehicles at Uday Nagar on Friday.
The accused is Mohammed Ali, 28, from Uday Nagar, Banjara Hills. On Thursday night, Mohammed Ali consumed liquor heavily. “While returning home, at around 2.25am, Mohammed Ali suddenly went berserk and started damaging the vehicles parked in the narrow bylanes of Singadikunta and Uday Nagar,” Banjara Hills inspector N Kalinga Rao said.
After failing to break the window glasses of a parked I-10 car, Mohammed Ali picked up a boulder and hurled it at the car, damaging two window glasses.
When locals tried to intervene, Ali threatened to kill them and even roughed up few of them. “Ali also caused partial damage to two auto rikshaws. He also pushed down few parked bikes but there was no significant damage,” the inspector said.
Alerted by the locals, police reached the spot and even the cops had to wait for some time to apprehend Ali as he was out of control. After a while, police managed to apprehend him and then booked a case against him under section 427 (mischief and causing damage to property) of the IPC. He was released on station bail.
