HYDERABAD: Former irrigation minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Saturday demanded that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao respond to AP government’s plea in the Supreme Court against granting national project status to Kaleshwaram.
“KCR says he is working on linking of Godavari and Krishna rivers and planning to supply water to AP. Whereas, AP moves the apex court against Kaleshwaram project getting the national status.
Why is KCR silent on the issue,” Lakshmaiah said.
Stating that Kaleshwaram, originally designed by the previous Congress government as Pranahitha-Chevella, could have been completed at Rs 35,000 crore, he said KCR got it redesigned and escalated its cost to over Rs 1 lakh crore.
