HYDERABAD: A day after Adilabad traffic inspector
Dasari Bhoomaiah was found with Rs 10 lakh unaccounted money, ACB arrested the tainted official on Friday and produced him before the court which sent him to 15-day judicial remand. ACB officials were in for a rude shock when Bhoomaiah’s daughter spilled the beans that her father had given Rs 1.5 crore dowry at the time of her wedding along with a 50-tola gold.
During searches at Bhoomaiah’s daughter’s house in
Miyapur, sleuths recorded her video statement wherein she told that her father had given Rs 1.5 crore towards dowry along with gold jewellery.
Acting on an alert that Bhoomaiah was carrying cash to purchase land, ACB sleuths intercepted the Skoda sedan in which he was travelling on Outer Ring Road at Rajendranagar entry point on Thursday. The sleuths stumbled upon Rs 10 lakh and a sale deed pertaining to a 17-acre agricultural land between Bhoomaiah and one
Abdul Khaleed of Kamsanipally in
Mahbubnagar district.
As per the contents of the sale deed, Bhoomaiah has already paid Rs 15 lakh to Khaleed. The sleuths said that Bhoomaiah was not able to explain the source of the money.
ACB conducted simultaneous searches at eight places in
Karimnagar and two places in Hyderabad linked to Bhoomaiah. During the searches, ACB seized incriminating documents of various properties. “The seized documents are being scrutinised. We will soon arrive at the disproportionate assets amassed by Bhoomaiah,” an official release said.
Bhoomaiah was produced before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad. He was taken to Chanchalguda Central Prison in the evening.
