HYDERABAD: After a contract driver of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's Disaster Response Force (DRF) caused a security scare by intercepting chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s convoy at Gun Park on Tuesday morning, five cops were issued with charge memos and an ACP was asked for explanation by the city police commissioner Anjani Kumar.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning when KCR went to pay tributes at Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun Park on the occasion of the Telangana Formation Day.
The CM’s convoy was about to leave Gun Park at around 8.45am, when J Hanumanthu, a contract driver of GHMC’s DRF, suddenly came in front of the CM’s vehicle.
The youngster, who wanted to request the CM for a government job and 2BHK house, was immediately whisked away by the security personnel and a case was registered against him under section 341 of the IPC.
When the incident happened, police top brass, including DGP M Mahendar Reddy, additional DG (Law & Order) Jitender and Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar, were barely few metres away from the Chief Minister's vehicle.
Top officials took the issue seriously and issued charge memos to four inspectors and a Sub Inspector. Explanation was sought from an ACP of Central Zone. The accused was let off after issuing a notice under section 41-a of CrPC asking him to appear for questioning when summoned by the investigation officer.
