HYDERABAD: The sixth additional chief metropolitan magistrate on Monday sent the man accused of raping a minor girl inside a Tolichowki school in police custody for six days. Immediately after the court passed the order, the accused was taken into custody by Golconda Police from Chanchalguda Central Prison.
On September 15, a sanitation supervisor was arrested by the Golconda Police for allegedly raping an UKG girl student of a Tolichowki school.
The rape survivor’s mother said the accused lured her daughter by offering a chocolate and took her into a bathroom on the first floor of the school and sexually assaulted her. The school supervisor has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).

He was sent in judicial custody for 14 days. To collect more evidence, the police had filed a petition before the Nampally criminal courts seeking a 10-day police custody of the accused. Upon hearing the arguments of the public prosecutor, the court allowed the Golconda Police to interrogate him for six days.
“We will interrogate the accused in detail and take him to the crime scene for corroborating the facts,” said K Ashok Chakravarthy, assistant commissioner of police (Asif Nagar).
It may be called that on September 19, the Golconda Police had registered another rape case against unknown persons belonging to the Tolichowki school. According to sources, the police are investigating whether the same accused is involved in this case too.
The police said they were waiting for forensic report to determine whether any other girl was abused at school. Bharosa centre officials, however, said other students may not have been abused. Several parents have requested the authorities not to shut down the school. They said it would affect their children’s education. A final decision is likely to be taken very soon.
