Organising non-academic events at department spaces will no longer be allowed for students and student organisations at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) following a notice issued by the registrar’s office recently.

HYDERABAD: Organising non-academic events at department spaces will no longer be allowed for students and student organisations at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) following a notice issued by the registrar’s office recently.
In the notice issued by registrar P Sardar Singh, he informed all deans and academic heads that students they must permit only academic activities of students, with responsibility assigned to at least one faculty member or the department.

“For any non-academic activities by the student(s) or students’ organizations, prior permission must be obtained from the dean of students welfare to book auditorium spaces that have been earmarked for such activities,” read the notice, adding that the permission will be given if the requisition is submitted at least two days in advance.
In view of the recent events on the campus, the registrar has also warned students of misrepresenting activities. “If any misrepresentation about the organizers or the actual event comes to light, it will result in revocation of any permission granted. If such misrepresentation comes to light after the event, it will result in loss of future privileges to hold events at campus venues,” read the notice.
