Woman gets lewd calls after cabbie puts no. on toilet wall

HYDERABAD: A cab driver, who bore a grudge against a woman passenger over a payment dispute and wrote her mobile number on the wall of a public toilet to take revenge, has been arrested by Cyberabad police’s SHE Teams.
On July 8, the victim approached police stating that she had booked a cab for Rs 200 as per the fare shown in the cab aggregator’s app. However, the cab driver took a longer route and the fare shot up to Rs 800.
She, however, did not agree to the revised fare and paid only Rs 200.

The cab driver bore a grudge against her and posted her mobile number on the wall of a public toilet with lewd comments. As a result, the woman started receiving calls from unknown persons, police said. During investigation, police identified the culprit and arrested him.

Cops and aggregators should take serious note of this incident and conduct awareness workshops for drivers. Also, strong action must be taken against cabbies who harass passengers so that it serves as a deterrent for others.


In another case, a woman was harassed by a Facebook friend. According to police, the victim met the culprit on Facebook and shared her financial problems. Later, the accused offered her a job.
Soon after she joined his company, he started getting involved in the victim’s personal life. He started stalking and harassing her, including seeking sexual favours. Fed up with the harassment she approached SHE Teams and the culprit was arrested.

In another case, a girl's karate teacher showed her porn videos and touched her inappropriately. Based on the girl’s mother’s complaint, a case was registered and the karate teacher was nabbed. During a decoy operation at a government school in Rajendranagar, SHE Teams personnel caught four persons for harassing and passing lewd comments against girls.
In the past 15 days, the Cyberabad police’s SHE Teams had received 65 complaints from women. Based on these complaints, 47 cases were registered, including 15 criminal cases under the IPC and other laws (7 cases of eve-teasing and 8 cases of cell phone stalking.
