IMPHAL: Three women, including two patients, were injured as a chunk of concrete plaster ceiling fell down at the maternity ward of Churachandpur district hospital on Saturday afternoon.
A police officer in the Kuki-Chin-Mizo-dominated district on Sunday said that he has sent his team to take stock of the situation and take necessary measures on the incident.
The incident took place at the postnatal room of the maternity ward, injuring Lhingboi (34) of Khuongbung and Kimmuanching (30) of V Munhoih in Churachandpur district.

One woman who accompanied the patients also sustained injuries, sources said, adding that Kimmuanching had been admitted to the hospital around 20 minutes before the incident in the four-bed room took place.
The three, who are said to be out of danger, were moved to another room for treatment, the source added.
Some civil bodies of district have demanded the government to take necessary action against those responsible for the incident.
This came barely a month after a pedestrian was killed and three others were injured in a building collapse in the busy Bir Tikendrajit Road in Imphal city.
