IMPHAL: With the Naga peace talks reportedly in its final stage, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Monday evening chaired a joint meeting with various prominent civil bodies of the state and the government's consultative group on Naga peace talks.
The civil bodies' delegation, comprising 27 leaders from the United Committee Manipur (UCM), All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO), Committee of Civil Societies, Kangleipak (CCSK), HERICOUN and LIPUL, asked the government to ensure that Naga peace process will not affect the territorial unity and integrity of Manipur, a civil society body leader said.

He added that Biren informed the civil bodies that the Centre has so far not revealed to the Manipur government any information on the Naga peace process.
It was also discussed in the meeting if an office could be set up in Imphal where the civil bodies and the consultative committee could sit together and hold frequent discussions on the issue.
The Naga Framework Agreemnent was signed in August 2015. Recently, RN Ravi, the Centre's interlocutor for Naga peace talks, was appointed the governor of Nagaland.
