INDORE: In a bizarre case, police have booked a police officer's wife for fraudulently marrying an Army officer, while claiming that she is in her twenties and unmarried.
The accused, a 48-year-old, is an officer in the Madhya Pradesh administration. Annapurna police station TI Satish Kumar Devedi said, "An FIR has been filed against her under IPC sections 389, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 494, 495 and 120 B and action will be initiated at the earliest." The charges include marrying again during lifetime of spouse and concealing information of the first marriage from him, putting a person in fear of accusation of offence in order to commit extortion, cheating by impersonation, forgery and using a fake document.
According to police, the woman met the Army officer on Tinder in April 2017.
She had created a fake Facebook account and linked it to the dating app under a false name, 'Anisha'. The Armyman, a 30-year-old Major then posted in the Northeast, has told police that he met 'Anisha' on Tinder two years back. The two began chatting and she allegedly told the soldier that she is 24 years old but "looks older and has gained weight" because she was suffering from a 'rare heart disorder'.
The officer believed her and came over to Indore and met her for the first time on May 3, 2017, say police.
Woman complained to Army against major
The officer believed her and came over to Indore and met her for the first time on May 3, 2017, say police.
Their friendship turned into a relationship and they started meeting each other more regularly. They even travelled together to Omkareshwar and Bhopal and spent time together at hotels in Indore. The Armyman took her to Delhi in June to meet his parents and then to the Northeast base where he was posted.

The Major then came to Mhow for three months on training and stayed at a rented apartment, where the woman also stayed with him. Once, while vacationing in another city, she got the Armyman to meet her daughters but allegedly introduced them as her nieces.
They married in July 2017, with the woman producing two witnesses, and the couple honeymooned in the Andamans for a week in October, say police.
The lie was shattered in April last year when the Army officer came to Indore for a month. He started suspecting something amiss in the woman’s behavior. He says in his complaint that while checking her phone and purse one day, he found that she had kept her real identity hidden from him and had lied about everything.
The Major checked all her documents secretly and realized that he had been defrauded. He confronted her, but she allegedly refused to admit her mistake.
After the Armyman stopped talking to her, she threatened to falsely implicate him in a rape case and spoil his career in the Forces. She allegedly sent a mail to the Army chief, leading to an internal inquiry against him. Under relentless pressure, the officer dithered to file a complaint, but finally did late Friday night.
