Indore: The much-awaited Khajuraho-Indore-Khajuraho Special Express train, which was flagged off from
Khajuraho on Saturday, began its maiden journey from
Indore on Sunday fulfilling the demand of direct
train service between Indore and Khajuraho.
A total of 154 passengers boarded the train, which left from platform number 1 of at 3:55pm. Of them, 132 passengers were of sleeper class, 14 of AC-3 and 8 of AC-2.
Indore-Khajuraho Special Express (19663) will run from Indore on four days- Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday in a week. In return, Khajuraho-Indore Special Express (19664) will depart from Khajuraho on every Sunday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
The train will depart from Indore at 3:55pm and reach Khajuraho at 6am next day covering stations like Ujjain, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Sanchi, Vidisha, Bina, Lalitpur, Tikamgarh, Khargapur and Chhatarpur. In return, the train will depart from Khajuraho at 11:30pm and reach Indore at 1:30pm next day.
“It was a long pending demand of various organisations, public representatives and passengers. It will connect Malwa region with Bundelkhand,” said a Ratlam division of Western Railway spokesman.
