Indore: A
habitual offender, who has over 20 cases registered against him at various police stations across the city and was released from the jail 15 days ago, attacked a
doctor and another person in two different cases in Annapurna area on Sunday.
The accused, Rinku Choudhary, thrashed Dr Girish Gattani when he tried to thwart his
extortion bid. Dr Girish is a resident of Sudama Nagar and operates a clinic from Mahavar Nagar.
He told police that he owned a plot adjacent to his clinic. The accused had an eye on his plot for a few years. On Sunday, around 2 pm, he threatened him while asking to pay Rs 2 lakh if he did any construction on the plot.
When the doctor refused to do so, the accused misbehaved with him and also manhandled him at his home.
After two hours of this incident, the accused reached a house in Mahawar Nagar, where he thrashed a youth over some scuffle and fled the spot. Amir Khan, a resident of Rau, was buying a second-hand gypsy from one Prem Kumar when Choudhary reached the spot.
Annapurna police have registered a case based on the complaints of the duo. Annapurna police station in charge Satish Kumar Dwivedi said that they were in the process of recording statement of family members and locals in the area. TNN
