Indore: 171 Covid-beaters walk home - highest in a day

INDORE: Indore on Saturday reported the highest single-day discharge with 171 Covid-19 patients walking home healthy and happy. The patients were discharged from three city hospitals.
Earlier, the highest discharge in a day was on May 9 when 159 people were discharged.
Of the 171, 120 were discharged from Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, 35 from Index Medical College and 16 from Choithram Hospital.
Among the discharged, a woman with her newborn baby were also returned home from SAIMS. A SAIMS doctor also performed aarti of the woman and her baby girl. She delivered the baby around two weeks back in the hospital.
Dr Rajeev Singh, official spokesperson of SAIMS said, “The woman was positive and undergoing treatment at the hospital. She delivered the baby during treatment.”
Fortunately, the baby didn’t catch the infection. Now, both were discharged along with 120 others on Saturday, added Singh.
In Saturday’s lot - the maximum and minimum age of the patients were - 81 and 4 years.
Dr Ravi Dosi, HoD respiratory department of SAIMS said, “There were eight patients, who were put under Intensive Care Unit initially and two others were on BiPAP. Their condition improved and they were shifted to isolation ward within couple of days”.
They were administered low molecular heparin used for blood thinning, azithromycin, multi vitamins and other drugs based on the symptoms, said Dosi. The other patients were stable with moderate symptoms and were given symptomatic treatment, added Dosi. Most of patients discharged from SAIMS contracted infection from their family member.
