Indore: Man clears airport security with forged papers, held after real passenger walks in
INDORE: An imposter crossed security hold area of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport on forged identity papers but was caught by security personnel when actual passenger reached the airport and claimed his boarding pass on Tuesday afternoon.
Official said that the accused Hansraj Bhagat, a resident of Hyderabad, got security check clearance on basis of forged documents and tickets, apparently arranged by a travel agent in Hyderabad.

The fraud came to light only after actual passenger Hyderabad-based Rajeev Sharma, reached the airport and sought boarding pass of an Indigo flight to Hyderabad on basis of ticket which he claimed to have obtained from the same agent, said sources. Sharma’s claims prompted airline staff to alert security personnel and trace Bhagat to waiting area near boarding gates. CISF questioned Bhagat and he confessed having used forged documents to get Sharma’s ticket.
Sharma had booked a round trip ticket from Hyderabad to Indore along with a group of some 160 passengers. However, he had to postpone his trip owing to some personal reason and came to Indore by a train on August 3.
"The agent might have provided ticket of Sharma to the imposter and also arranged fake document after coming to know about postponement of Sharma’s plan," officials suspected.
Airport director Aryama Sanyal said that the imposter was detained by CISF personnel on suspicion of travelling on a forged identity documents.
“During inquiry, the accused failed to produce any valid document which could prove his identity, and on basis of the same, he was detained and has been handed over to Aerodrome police,” said the director.
A case under section 419 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Aerodrome Police Station against the accused. Meanwhile, airport authorities have made it compulsory for flyers to show their original documents while flying from Indore airport.
