MP: Pregnant woman raped, suffers miscarriage in Indore

INDORE: In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman was allegedly raped by her relative causing a miscarriage in Tejaji Nagar area. Police have arrested the accused and a court sent him to jail on Saturday.
The incident took place on May 30 when the woman was alone in her house and her husband was out for work, Tejaji Nagar police said.
The accused, who is a relative of the vicitm’s husband, reached the house and forced himself upon the woman, they said adding that the woman resisted and told the accused about her second trimester pregnancy, but the accused raped her.
The woman developed complications and was rushed to a hospital where the miscarriage took place.
The accused is a Khandwa-based youth who used to live with the couple in Indore. Thus when he visited the woman, no suspicion was raised.
Soon after the miscarriage, the woman informed her mother and later called up her husband. Her relatives rushed to her help and then approached the police.
A police team reached the hospital and recorded the statements of the victim.
The accused was later arrested and produced before a local court. He was sent on judicial remand.
