Nagda to be declared 53rd district of Madhya Pradesh soon
INDORE: The long-pending demand to declare Nagda as 53rd district of Madhya Pradesh is likely to be fulfilled in near future since state government has sought details of three tehsils of Ujjain district and one of Ratlam district to finalize the proposal.
Nagda district will be constituted by merging Nagda, Khacharod and Mahidpur tehsils of Ujjain district and Alot tehsil of Ratlam district.
Ujjain collector has written to sub-divisional officers (SDOs) of Nagda, Khacharod and Mahidpur to furnish required details along with their maps by Thursday.
The SDOs will submit the details in three formats. In format 1, they have to present district-wise classification of their respective tehsils with details of total number of panchayat/patwari halka (area) of rural and urban parts. In format 2, they will present details of Ujjain district post partition of Nagda, Khachrod and Mahidpur tehsils. In format 3, details of tehsil-wise patwari halka containing revenue inspector circles, number of villages in patwari halka, khasra (plot) number, area of villages and population as per Census 2011, will be provided. Besides this, details of facilities, including anaj mandi, veterinary hospital, allopathic hospital, primary health centres, schools, colleges, post offices have been sought.
In 2008 assembly elections, ex-MLA Dilip Gurjar had moved an application in assembly session to declare Nagda as a district. The then revenue minister had promised him to pay attention on his demand. But, later, senior officials rejected his plea. In 2013 assembly polls, too, the issue had sought public attention. But the demand is being fulfilled now after 2018 assembly elections.
“The SDOs have been asked to furnish details as required by government. The process to declare Nagda as 53rd district of state, however, will take some time,” Ujjain collector Shashank Mishra said.
