Several BJP leaders injured after stage collapses in Indore

INDORE: Several BJP leaders — including Indore MP Shankar Lalwani, mayor Malini Gaud, Mhow MLA Usha Thakur and former MLA Rajesh Sonkar — were injured when a stage erected to welcome the 'Akrosh Rally’ of party general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya collapsed in Rajmohalla area on Tuesday.
The stage could not bear the load of people who climbed atop to be seen with the stalwarts and caved in, taking down all the leaders, and sparking panic in the crowd.
BJP workers pulled the injured leaders out of the wreckage. Luckily, there were ambulances standing by for the high-profile event. Gaud, Thakur and Sonkar were taken to hospital. Sonkar has been hospitalised with injuries to his back and head.
Gaud and Thakur sustained minor injuries on their limbs. Indore-5 MLA Mahendra Hardia suffered injuries on his legs. Recently elected Indore MP Shankar Lalwani, who was also present on stage, sustained minor injuries to his limbs.
